Another flower

Here are two slightly different photos of the same flower. I can't decide which I prefer.

Evening stroll

I went out for a walk the other night intending to shoot wildflowers growing along a bike path near my house. The flowers were pretty tattered. Try as I might, I couldn't get anything that really worked for me except maybe this one...

Good thing I wasn't so fixated on flowers that I missed any of this...

Flowers

Here are a couple more flower pictures from the other night. I think I like the first one and the last two the best. I also think I like all of them better than the one I put up a couple of days ago.

I did a blurry version of this too. I kind of like it. I think I'd have to look at these two for a while to decide which I like better. I'd be curious to see what anyone else thinks...

I had planned on going out and shooting these flowers again tonight, but a big thunderstorm blocked all the late-evening light I was going to shoot with. Now we're under a tornado watch. Maybe I'll get a chance tomorrow...

Other flower

The roses are all gone, so I shot these tonight. I'm not a big fan of white flowers, but these were convenient... That's about all I can say about them. Maybe they'll grow on me.

Rose

My pink rose is just about done blooming. I've got a couple pictures of it that I haven't looked at yet, so don't be surprised if the next couple of days look like a variation on this...

Still blooming

My roses are still blooming. I haven't had much time to shoot them, but I went out for a couple of minutes tonight just as the sun was going down...

St. Louis

A few pictures from a recent trip to St. Louis...Two from the zoo, and one from a flower bed near where we were staying.

The last of the tulips

I'm a little tired of looking at tulips, so this will be the last tulip picture for a while. I promise. I have a few ideas for some ways to shoot the tulips that are still blooming in my yard, but I'll wait a while before I post any of those...if I ever get around to shooting them. In the mean time, here's the last of the Pella tulips. Let me know what you think...

Still more tulips

I'll be done with the tulips soon. I promise...

Blurry tulips

Like I did last year, I'm still messing around with these blurry flower pictures. In some ways I like them. In some ways I think they could be better. Thoughts anyone?

Flowers

There were a few tulips blooming in Pella. Here's the first of what will likely be several tulip entries. Keep me honest. Tell me what works and what doesn't...

Pella

Tulip Time is coming up later this week, so I went to Pella today to shoot tulips. I tried this last year when I went after Tulip Time. By the time I got there, most of the flowers were gone, and what was left wasn't worth shooting. This year, I thought I'd go early to avoid the same problem.

I saw a lot of this...

So, I shot windows instead...

It wasn't quite as bad as that. There were a few flowers to shoot. Stay tuned...

Back to flowers

As Valentine's Day approaches, I head back to the vault of flower pictures. Hopefully I'll have something fresh to put up soon.

In a rut

I promise this will be the last rose picture for a while. I'm not sure why, but when I load this picture to Blogger, it looks a lot worse than it does on my screen in Photoshop. It's not as sharp and it's orange, so when you look at it, pretend it's redder and sharper. Even like this, it's a bit different from the typical flower picture. I shot it this fall, and it's one of my favorites. For anyone who is interested, the only light source for this picture was a small LED flashlight.

Another rose

Here's another rose from quite a while ago. I keep threatening to put a show together of my favorite rose pictures. Maybe one of these days...

Rose...the first of many

I enjoy photographing flowers, especially roses. I have this rose bush in my yard that I shoot every spring/summer/fall when it's in bloom. I have a lot of pictures of roses. I've been avoiding putting any of the pictures up here for a variety of reasons, but here's the first of what will likely be many flower pictures to come.
