Keyboard

My wife is a freelance writer. Quite a while ago, I took some pictures of her old typewriter for her to use on her website. I love patterns and repetition. I also love old things. I thought the pictures were nice.

Igloo

We've had so much snow here lately that I built an igloo in my backyard. Technically, it's a quinzee, but it looks like an igloo, and that's what everyone thinks it is. Here are a few photos of it...

Dale Jr.

The new Nascar season kicks off tomorrow with the 50th running of the Daytona 500, and the odds on favorite to win is Dale Earnhardt Jr. I had the opportunity to shoot him when he made a publicity appearance in Salt Lake City several years ago. He was there to try to set a new landspeed record on a motorized barstool. The barstool wasn't working, but he signed autographs, drove his show car around the track and chatted with fans a bit. As far as big celebrities go, he seemed as genuine and as down-to-earth as any I've encountered. I hope he stayed that way. I also hope he wins the Daytona 500 tomorrow.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yet another rose. At least it's appropriate for the day...

Back to flowers

As Valentine's Day approaches, I head back to the vault of flower pictures. Hopefully I'll have something fresh to put up soon.

Eagles

Feeling a little cooped up, we went out hoping to find some eagles to look at this afternoon. Luck was with us. We saw this eagle having lunch on the carcass of a roadkill deer. It's not uncommon to see a bunch of eagles in our area, but to see one doing something besides sitting in a tree 1/4 mile away was a treat.

Even with a 300mm lens I had to crop in on these a bit too much. It'd be fun to go back with a 1200mm lens to do this right. Too bad I don't have a 1200mm lens.
